A fifteen minute drive brings you to the airport, and a further fifteen minutes brings you to the amazing Rhodes town, a blend of ancient and modern with contemporary and sophisticated night life and a plethora of taverna, bars, cafes and historical delights. A fifteen minute drive south of Fanes village finds the ancient remains of Kamiros Skala, a town abandoned in 142AD. Wonderfully preserved, the outlines of streets, houses, temples and bathhouses can still be observed. A very peaceful and awe inspiring site.
The area of Fanes is lush and fertile and its cooler climate with a summer breeze is popular with Kite Surfers. Fish restaurants and traditional tavernas scatter the coastline. The life style is serene and laid back. Fanes is ideally situated to explore the many villages clinging to the hillsides in the centre of the island, and its close proximity to Rhodes' infrastructure make it a fantastic location for holiday makers and second home owners.
