Kremasti
Kremasti is one of Rhodes larger villages, where you can capture the mood of Rhodian life in cafes and tavernas. The main focus of the village is the handsome Church of the Panagia, Our Lady of Kreamsti, a large building within a complex of mature trees and formal lawns and with a flanking arcade surfaced with superb hokhlaki (pebble mosaic) flooring. The interior walls are covered in modern icons; there is a spledid golden iconostasis, or alter screen, and extravagant chandeliers. Adjacent to the church is a bone-white classical building that houses a library. This building and the church were funded by donations form expatriate local people, mainly living in America.
